Atlantic Universities Boost Enrolment Through International Students

In an effort to boost enrolment, Atlantic universities have been turning to third-party recruiters to attract more international students.

Recruiters help prospective students fill out complicated paperwork and provide information about the university and location, and they are often paid a commission once the student is enrolled and studying.

However, not all recruiters are the same. Agents motivated to turn a profit at all costs can be prone to giving misleading information to close the deal, causing some schools to turn to extensive screening processes that ensure accurate representation from agents.

International students have become an important source of revenue for Atlantic universities —Cape Breton University, for example, receives more from international student tuition than from government funding.
