IRCC has announced new measures for Canadians and residents in Hong Kong. The measures are designed to spur economic growth as the country’s economy rebounds from COVID-19.
A new permanent residency pathway, featuring specific criteria, will be created for in-Canada Hong Kong residents and Canada will also expedite study permit applications for Hong Kong residents.
Included in the measures is a new immigration initiative that will increase permanent residency pathways for students and youth from Hong Kong. This new open work permit, which is valid for up to 3 years, is being offered in addition to several enhancements to existing immigration programs.
