Current PGWP holders can apply four months before of their permit’s expiration. The policy is in acknowledgment of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on the labour market.

The open work permit is available for up to 18 months and applicants must apply online by July 27, 2021. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements including having a valid passport and being in Canada as of January 27, 2021.
