The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants Act has recently come one step further in achieving its objective to help protect against fraudulent immigration consultants.

After achieving member approval and being proclaimed into force, the legislation will allow the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council to become the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, which will oversee the professional standards required for immigration consultants.

The Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council has now approved the motion to transition to the College, which will have more power to investigate and enforce professional standards for immigration consultants across Canada and abroad, expanding the existing mandate of the ICCRC.

This shift will help protect vulnerable immigrants against fraud in the profession and help immigration and citizenship consultants in good standing with the ICCRC.
