IRCC Announces New PR Pathway for up to 90,000 Essential Temporary Workers and International Graduates

On April 14, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a new pathway to permanent residency for up to 90,000 essential temporary workers and international graduates.

Eligible candidates include workers who have served at least one year in health care or select essential occupations and international graduates who have completed their degrees at qualifying Canadian institutions since January 1, 2017.

Candidates will be selected from the following streams:

  • 20,000 applications for temporary workers in health care
  • 30,000 applications for temporary workers in other selected essential occupations
  • 40,000 applications for international students who graduated from a Canadian institution

The application intake process begins on May 6, 2021. Additional uncapped streams for French-speaking and bilingual candidates have also been created.
