Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced a plan to increased caregiver application processing in 2021.

The Honourable Marco E.L. Mendicino, P.C., M.P., Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, issued a commitment to prioritizing first-stage decisions for 1500 caregiver applications by June 30, 2021.

Also included in the announcement was a promise to send applicants acknowledgement of receipt letters by May 31, 2021. The department has targeted finalizing 6000 caregiver applications by December 31, 2021.

Those who applied to the Home Support Worker and the Home Child Care Provider programs in 2020 will be considered without the need for a new application.
