Immigration Ministers Assess Strategic Plan, Immigration’s Role in Economic Recovery

FMRI met to discuss the country’s economic recovery and the special measures taken during the pandemic to ensure Canada’s immigration system was able to address the challenges of the moment.

This included the move to virtual services and program adjustments for provincial nominees and international students.

The group also evaluated the progress made on the FPT Strategic Plan for Immigration (SPI), as well as levels planning, economic immigration, regional distribution, and Francophone immigration.

The FMRI is comprised of territorial, provincial, and federal ministers responsible for immigration. FMRI works to enhance Canada’s immigration policies and programs to ensure immigration’s economic and social benefits are experienced by all.
