Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is marking Asian Heritage Month in May with a theme of “Recognition, Resilience, and Resolve”.

In his statement to mark the month, the Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, noted the importance of combating anti-Asian racism in his remarks and also highlighted discrimination Asian immigrants have faced, such as the head tax and ban on Chinese immigration in the previous century.

The Minister also highlighted the numerous contributions Asian Canadians have made to Canada and noted that almost 20 percent of Canadians are of Asian descent.
