The College Act provides a regulatory framework for the immigration and citizenship consultants. The College is expected to open in 2021.

The Honourable Marco E.L. Mendicino, P.C., M.P., Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, announced on November 26, 2020 that the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants Act is now in force.

The College will have substantial government oversight with a goal of public protection. This will include authority to establish a code of conduct for licensees, as well as investigative and disciplinary powers, designed to protect the public and immigration and citizenship consultants in good standing from dishonest actors.
