As of 2019, Portuguese youth will now be able to work & travel in Canada under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, & Canadian youth will have the opportunity to do the same in Portugal.
Canada’s youth mobility program extends to 34 different countries and gives young people the opportunity to broaden their perspectives through immersion in a different culture.
Young people can choose between three different types of IEC programs, depending on their needs. The Working Holiday program allows them to work anywhere in the country, while the International Co-op and Young Professionals programs allow for more specific, targeted work experience.
Canada’s new agreement with Portugal will strengthen the Portuguese-Canadian community and reflects Canada’s commitment to acceptance and inclusivity.
