Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is warning the public about a telephone scam targeting international students in Canada.

While reports of the scam have been made in the Ottawa and London areas, IRCC reminds students that the scam might be operational in other cities as well.

The goals of telephone, internet, and email scams include identity theft, financial theft, and fraud. Be sure to follow IRCC guidelines to protect yourself.

During Fraud Prevention Month, IRCC reminds the public to use the only the application forms and guides available on the IRCC website and that only immigration officers can issue visas.
