Victoria Programs to Support Visible Minority Newcomer Women

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is working with the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria to help provide employment workshops for visible minority newcomer women.

The workshops and seminars will cover topics that touch on immigration, human rights, diversity awareness, and other significant issues faced by newcomer women.

This is part of the IRCC’s larger federal project to increase services for this demographic over the next three years, as they face significant barriers to employment due to racial and gender discrimination.

The IRCC’s Visible Minority Newcomer Women Pilot will provide up to $7 million in funding for programs dedicated to the needs of this vulnerable demographic as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to help immigrants and visible minorities thrive in Canada.
