Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced the creation of 62 new full-time positions at its Sydney location and additional office space in New Waterford.

The new office space and staff positions will focus on Family Class Overseas application processing.

IRCC hopes that with this increased capacity, it will be able to get processing rates for spousal applications back to pre-pandemic levels.

Canada landed 10 percent more permanent residents in January 2021 than it did in January 2020 and IRCC believes this demonstrates increased efficiency when compared to pre-pandemic levels.
