Canada is 38,929,902 People Strong and Growing.

Canada has grown by 4,049,402 from 34,880,500 a decade ago. At 38,929,902, that is the fastest population growth rate of any G7 County.

Since our birth rate is 1.49 children per woman, increases in our population number are thanks to immigration policy. Last year, in 2021, twenty-three percent of all Canadians were immigrants to Canada; twenty years from now, that number could rise to 34%.

This year alone, four hundred thirty thousand permanent residents joined Canada.

The permanent resident program for skilled workers is one government policy bringing immigrant skilled labour to Canadian cities and towns. This program settles skilled workers in areas like construction and medicine where Canadian job shortages make the talents of skilled new immigrants a welcome addition to employers and an ageing population.

The most popular countries for immigration to arrive from are China, India, and the Philippines and the top province for to settle in is Ontario. According to Statistics Canada, we Canadians are also experiencing a migration shift - relocating towards the Maritime Provinces, where lower housing prices make home ownership attractive. It looks like we are making space in our urban centers for the 400,000 + arriving next year also.
