Hey guys, I was having a debate with a buddy who’s trying to build a niche niche iGaming project from scratch. He thinks he can just hire a couple of full-stack devs to build the entire betting backend, settlement engine, and live odds integration in-house within a few months. I keep telling him that handling real-time data feeds, sub-second odds updates, and high-volume settlement during major live events is a whole different beast compared to standard web dev. Am I crazy, or is building a proprietary betting core in 2026 basically a financial trap unless you're a multi-billion dollar conglomerate?
