Has anyone found a friend app that doesn't require your phone number?

Okay so I've been looking for a decent friend app for months and I'm honestly exhausted. Every single platform out there either wants your phone number to verify your account, or it's basically just a dating app in disguise. I'm not looking for dates, I'm just looking for people I can actually talk to about the stuff I care about books, obscure music, weird niche hobbies, whatever. Does anyone know of a friend app that actually works without demanding your personal info upfront? I feel like privacy is just completely ignored in social apps these days.

"Oh, I had the exact same frustration for a long time. What actually worked for me https://yoursecret.org/ is you don't need a phone number at all to get started, and the whole idea behind it is matching you with people based on your actual thoughts and personality rather than just location or appearance. I've connected with a couple of people there who I genuinely talk to every week now. It's not huge yet which I think is part of why it still feels real and not just noise. "
