Unexpected calls from an unknown number – what to do
By: Thomas on Feb 16, 2026 07:22 AM EST
Hi! I've recently started experiencing a strange situation: an unknown number keeps calling, sometimes several times a day, and each time there's silence on the line or strange sounds. I've tried not answering, blocking the number, and even searching for it online, but I haven't found anything concrete. Have you ever had this kind of persistent call become a real problem?

I completely agree with you—harassing calls from unknown numbers are truly annoying, especially when there's either silence or strange offers on the other end. I encountered this problem myself a few months ago, and at first it was downright unnerving. However, I found a great way to deal with it and feel more at ease: the article about What Should You Do If an Unknown Number Keeps Calling explains in great detail and clearly what to do in such situations and how to protect yourself from repeated empty calls. I read it and received specific advice—from blocking numbers to the appropriate response to such calls.

Hi! I'd like to share my experience, which might be helpful. I used to have exactly the same situation: an unknown number called several times a day, and the line was either silent or filled with strange noises. The first thing I did was try ignoring the calls and blocking the number. But over time, I realized that simply blocking wasn't enough: the calls were coming from different numbers. So I decided to gather all the information and installed a call identification app. It helped me track down the source and even revealed that it was spam from an automated line I'd never even heard of before. After that, I was able to set up filters and completely stop these annoying calls.
