Annual awards honour outstanding contributions from newcomers across Canada
As Canadians reflect on nation-building and identity, the 17th annual Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards, presented by Canadian Immigrant magazine with the support of presenting sponsor Western Union, recognizes newcomers whose contributions have helped shape the country.
The only national award of its kind, the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards highlights inspirational individuals from across Canada who are making an impact in business, science, culture, and community. This year’s winners include a TikTok influencer, a billionaire investor, a cereal company founder, community advocates, and STEM innovators.
“Sharing their stories is sharing the story of Canada,” said Sanjay Agnihotri, Publisher of Canadian Immigrant.
The program also honours three standout awardees:
- Youth Award: Andrian Makhnachov, a 22-year-old Ukrainian social media content creator who shares his journey as a newcomer.
- Entrepreneur Award: Sam Osmow, founder of the popular restaurant chain Osmow’s.
- Leadership Award: Simone Le Gendre, recognized for her exceptional professional and community leadership.
This year’s winners were selected through a combination of public voting and scores from a judging panel made up of past recipients. Over 50,000 votes were cast following a shortlist of 75 finalists drawn from hundreds of nominations.
