The 2019-2021 Immigration Levels Plan is a comprehensive three-year plan based on set immigration levels.
With a focus on support for diversity, border security, and economic growth, the plan is designed to increase the number of newcomers accepted into Canada and help them settle more comfortably.
Specifically, an additional 1,000 vulnerable women and girls will be accepted as refugees, and by 2020 the target for the Protected Persons and Dependents Abroad category will be increased by 1,000. In 2021, an additional 9,000 admissions will be accepted to help meet the demand for citizenship.
The aims of the plan are to increase admissions to 350,000 in 2021, strengthening Canada’s commitment to a robust middle class and diverse, vibrant communities.
