IRCC has announced that permanent residence applications from refugee claimants working in Canada’s health care sector will be accepted starting December 14, 2020

Applicants with internship experience that meets specific criteria will be considered as well. IRCC will accept applications until August 31, 2021.

This policy also includes certain measures for family members of refugee claimants working in health care. In-Canada family members of the principal applicant can be included on the application. In addition, spouses and common-law partners of refugee claimants who arrived in Canada before August 14, 2020, and who have passed away due to COVID-19, may also apply.

Applicants living in Quebec must submit an application for permanent residence to IRCC, which will then be evaluated by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration du Québec.
