The BC Provincial Nominee Program has introduced language requirements to its Entrepeneur Immigration program.
Nominated candidates must now submit proof that they have passed a language test in English. The requirements became effective on January 29 and aim to ensure new entrepreneurs have sufficient language skills to successfully integrate. Entrepreneurs will need a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4 to meet the qualification.
Most other BC PNP categories have a minimum language requirement as part of an agreement with the federal government. The CLB level 4 is only a basic requirement, ensuring new entrepreneurs can hold a simple conversation and read instructions. The language requirement is only mandatory when nominated, not at the time of application. Applicants have 3-4 years in BC to acquire the language skills to pass the test.
