The Canadian government will help people in Sudan with relatives in Canada to reunite with their families.

As the violent conflict in the African nation remains deeply concerning, Canada continues its support to the Sudanese people as they seek peace and an end to violence in the country. Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, has recently introduced a new family-based Canada permanent residency pathway for Sudanese and non-Sudanese nationals who were residing in Sudan on or before April 15, 2023. The date is when the conflict in Sudan began, and this new pathway will enable family members to permanently reunite with their families.

To be eligible for this pathway, the applicant must be the child, grandchild, parent, grandparent, or sibling of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who resides in Canada. The parent in Canada must consent to provide support and help to build a new life in Canada.

“Canada will continue to help those in need and honour its humanitarian tradition as a country. This humanitarian pathway will reunite loved ones and save lives. We recognize the resilience of the Sudanese people and are grateful for their continued contribution to their communities and our country.” Says Miller.
