Canada Launches Fast-Track Work Permit Program for Canadian Employers in the Philippines

Canada launches CAN Work Philippines, a pilot program at IRCC’s visa office in Manila.

The Government of Canada is helping Canadian employers hire the workers they need to fill jobs and grow the economy. Canada has recently announced the launch of CAN Work Philippines, a pilot program at IRCC’s visa office in Manila. The pilot is for Canadian employers recruiting in the Philippines, hiring approximately 50 or more workers, or for critical occupations such as health care, construction, and agri-food.

The Philippines is a major source of newcomers to Canada. According to the 2021 Census, 960,000 people of Philippine origin live in Canada. This new pilot will help reinforce the close social ties between the two nations, while addressing labour shortages in the Canadian economy.

Immigration Minister, Marc Miller says, “The CAN Work Philippines pilot will give Canada an important advantage in the global race for talent and support our industries in addressing labour market shortages.”

Canadian employers interested in more information on the CAN Work Philippines pilot program can contact IRCC by email.
