Citizenship Ceremony in Kelowna on Thursday Welcomes 41 New Canadians

Forty-one new Canadians were presented with their citizenship certificates in Kelowna on Thursday.

The citizenship ceremony was hosted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Institute for Canadian Citizenship.

Hailing from 20 different countries, most of the new Canadians have been living in Canada for years. Many said that being in Canada has opened new doors for their families.

Speaking to Global News, Kelowna councillor Mohini Singh commented: “Always very moving, I’ve been there myself, so I know; it’s a moment that stays with you always.”

One of the new Canadian citizens commented: “Well, I’ve been here in Canada 12 years—actually today is my anniversary in Canada. More opportunities for us, and especially for the next generation, for our kids.”
