Fraud Prevention Month in Canada

Throughout the month of March, Canada recognizes Fraud Prevention Month

Fraud Prevention Month is an annual public awareness campaign held in the month of March that seeks to help Canadians recognize, reject, and report fraud.

This year’s theme, "20 years of fighting fraud: From then to now" will help Canadians recognize how fraud has evolved over the years, from telemarketing and mail to social media and Artificial Intelligence. Immigration Minister Marc Miller says, “Fraud Prevention Month is an opportunity to highlight the risks of immigration-related fraud and some common warning signs.

This knowledge prepares newcomers and people looking to come to Canada to be vigilant and equipped to recognize, reject, and report potential fraud and scams. To participate in Fraud Prevention month, the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC) is proud to announce their Compass Campaign 2.0, highlighting the indispensable guidance provided by immigration consultants and their importance in avoiding unauthorized practitioners also referred to as (UAPs).

As March marks Anti-Fraud Month, it is an ideal opportunity for you to verify the licensing of your representative! For more information on how you can protect yourself against UAPs, please visit the CAPIC website, capic.ca or visit MyConsultant.ca and don’t forget to let a licensed consultant be your guide  as you navigate your immigrant journey to Canada!
