Government Commits to Helping Newcomer Women

The Visible Minority Newcomer Women initiative is a three-year pilot project designed to help newly arrived women overcome barriers to employment.

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada recognizes the need for increased support for a demographic with the highest rates of unemployment and poverty, and plans to assist groups providing innovative employment programs and affordable childcare.

IRCC will provide $7 million in funding for new programs that do not currently have funding, and $5 million in funding for existing programs to expand their services according to the goals of the pilot project.
