Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has updated the length of time Express Entry candidates have to send their application after receiving an invitation to apply.

Candidates will once again have 60 days to submit their applications for permanent residency (PR). IRCC had increased this period to 90 days due to pandemic-related delays.

The change is in effect as of June 29, 2021. All those who received their Express Entry invitation to apply before June 29, 2021 still have 90 days to submit their PR applications. Those who are unable to submit complete applications due to the pandemic are still eligible for facilitation measures.

IRCC believes the move to a 60-day period will allow for expedited application processing at higher volumes.
