As of January 28, 2019, the intake process for the Parents and Grandparents Program will adopt a first-come-first-served approach.
Interest to sponsor submissions will now be accepted for a limited time, followed by invitations to complete applications in the order in which the forms were received. This change comes as a response to concerns from clients and stakeholders concerning the previous application process.
In addition, the cap for applications has increased from 5,000 to 20,000 due to reductions in the backlog and application processing times.
The forms will be available online at 12 PM ET on January 28. Potential sponsors should submit their forms as soon as possible to maximize their chances of receiving an invitation.
Other changes include a Canadian status document requirement and security features that will filter out duplicate and fraudulent submissions.
