New PR Pathway Language Requirements for Essential Temporary Workers and Recent International Graduates

IRCC has clarified the language requirements for the recently announced permanent residency (PR) pathway for essential temporary workers and recent international graduates of Canadian institutions.

Recent international graduates require benchmark 5 proficiency and essential workers must have benchmark 4. The benchmarks are established as part of the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC).

IRCC will accept previous language tests that are less than 2 years old when the application is submitted. Tests results must be from an IRCC-approved agency. IRCC advises applicants that testing agencies are increasing capacity to meet this new demand.

Applicants can submit results by email or from an agency’s online portal.
