New Temporary Biometrics Policy for Permanent Residence Applicants

As a result of closures and delays created by the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC has issued a new temporary policy on biometrics collection for permanent residence applicants.

The policy exempts foreign nationals who have supplied biometrics within the last 10 years as part of an immigration application from biometrics requirements on pending or new applications for permanent residence. IRCC reminds permanent residence applicants not to pay the biometric fee (CAN$85) for new applications.

While this measure is in place, previously submitted biometrics will be reused.
