Non-essential Travel Restrictions Extended

The Canada-US land border will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least November 21, 2020, the federal government has announced.

The previous agreement was set to expire on October 21, 2020. The federal government notes that it will continue to make border closure decisions based on public health advice.

Travel to Canada for discretionary reasons such as tourism is still prohibited. Travellers exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be denied entry, regardless of their reason for travel.

Those travelling to Alaska must enter Canada through one of five designated ports of entry (POEs) and follow all CBSA guidelines, including displaying a vehicle “hang tag”.
