Provincial Nominee Program Draws: January 14 - 17

The Provincial Nominee Programs across Canada have begun issuing rounds of invitations for 2019, with several draws occurring last week.

Provincial nominations ensure that individuals receive an invitation to Canada’s Express Entry program, since they are worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. Provincial draws focus on streams that meet the specific economic needs of each province, and invitations are issued to candidates who can help the province’s economy flourish.

Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities was the largest draw of the week on January 14, issuing 1,493 invitations to the program with a minimum CRS score of 439. On January 17, 33 more invitations were issued for the French-Speaking Skilled worker program.

On January 16 Saskatchewan invited 362 candidates to their Express Entry program and 234 candidates to their Occupations In-Demand program, with minimum scores of 63 and 66 respectively. On the same day, BC issued invitations to 316 candidates, with a minimum score of 95 points for international graduates and 85 points for skilled workers. The minimum score was lower for semi-skilled and entry level workers, at 68 points.

On January 17 Manitoba’s draw was even larger with 626 invitations issued, 367 of which were for the Human Capital Pathway of the Skilled Workers Overseas stream. 200 invitations were issued to the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream and 32 for its International Education stream.

On the same day, PEI issued its first draw of the year as well, issuing 91 invitations, with 30 going to Business Impact candidates and 61 to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates.
