Quebec Skilled Worker Class Action Approval

A judgement by the Supreme Court following a class action lawsuit means that some people who filed applications for a Québec Selection Certificate (CSQ) may be eligible for compensation.

Newcomers who filed applications between February 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013, who were both refused entry into the selection grid on August 1, 2013, and had applications containing an A-1520-AA or A-1520-AF form are eligible for compensation of 50% of their application fees.

Those who filed applications before February 1, 2012, or between June 1 and July 7 of 2013, and were refused entry into the selection grid on August 1, 2013, are eligible to receive 25% of their compensation fees. Those who filed applications between July 8, 2013, and March 8, 2017, and were refused entry on March 8 are also eligible for a 25% compensation of their fees.

Applications refused after June 19, 2019, aren’t included in the lawsuit. Those who have applications eligible for compensation need to fill out a claim form and send it either online or via Canada Post by October 17, 2019. The form can be found here.
