McGill University, the University of Toronto, and the University of British Columbia are among the world’s best 50 universities.

Three Canadian universities have been ranked in the top 50 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2024. McGill University, the University of Toronto, and the University of British Columbia are all among the best 50 universities in the world. The University of Toronto was the highest-ranked university in Canada, placing 21st, McGill University placed 30th. The University of British Columbia took the 34th spot in the top 50.

The QS World University Rankings, published since 2004, considers metrics such as faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, employer reputation and academic reputation. The report has ranked 1,500 universities from around the world this year.

“This latest ranking underscores the University of Toronto’s world-leading scholarship, research and teaching excellence across a remarkably broad spectrum of disciplines,” said U of T President Meric Gertler.
