Tips and Best Practices for Spotting Online Immigration Scams

IRCC is marking Fraud Prevention Month with a number of helpful reminders that can help protect you when searching for Canadian immigration information online.

IRCC is reminding the public that you should never pay to access applications. Immigration forms and guides are freely available on IRCC’s website. Only government-approved representatives can be paid to assist you with immigration applications and you should be able to find their credentials on their website. Remember, you can check a representative’s status with their designated body, such as ICCRC.

In addition, a website might be suspicious if you are asked to provide personal or financial information before beginning an application or if it offers too good to be true deals or guarantees.

To protect yourself and your personal information, perform an online search to see if the site has been reported by others and read all disclaimers, notices, terms, and conditions before proceeding.
