IRCC Issues Updates for Immigration Medical Exams and TRVs

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued a temporary public policy that frees some low-risk, in-Canada foreign nationals from completing additional immigration medical exams.

This temporary policy only applies to certain candidates applying for permanent residence or a permanent visa.

To qualify, candidates must not have left Canada for more than 6 months in the last year and need to have completed an immigration medical exam during the previous 5 years, in addition to meeting other eligibility criteria.

IRCC has also updated its guidelines for temporary resident visa (TRV) application processing. These instructions only apply to TRV processing during the pandemic and allow for offices to determine non-priority application processing capacity.
