Manitobans Concerned About Crime, Health Care, and Immigration

Opinion Poll highlights shifting public priorities

A recent Manitoba government poll shows growing concern among residents about crime, health care, and immigration.

While affordability and health care remain top issues—cited by 75% and 70% of respondents respectively—concern about crime has climbed to 69%, up from 55% in early 2023.

Over half of respondents also said immigration levels are too high, citing job competition, housing demand, and strain on public services.

The Manitoba government says it values newcomers and has sought to attract more under the provincial nominee program to address labour shortages in some sectors. However, it's important to also ensure public opinion shapes future immigration planning: “Manitobans’ priorities are ours.”
