New Investment in Recruiting Temporary Foreign Workers in Quebec

At the Canadian Immigration Summit held in Montreal on October 16, 2019, Minister Jean Boulet announced additional funding to reimburse companies for International recruitment efforts.

With a projected $2.1 million investment over the next two years, the new funding will enable 50% reimbursement to eligible immigration consultants, notaries, and lawyers, not exceeding $1,200 per activity. The new plan supplements existing funding to businesses with travel abroad schemes for international recruitment, relocation expenses and public employment services for hired workers and their spouses, where necessary.

Expected to kickstart on November 11, 2019, the funding initiative should create affordable means for about 1,750 businesses in hiring of temporary foreign workers.

Minister Jean Boulet further referred to the labor shortage and the benefit of foreign workers, saying: "This new measure enhances the services offered to Quebec companies that are in the process of international recruitment. In the context of labor scarcity, this support comes at the right time. “
