Part of Province’s $2.5 Billion Investment in Workforce Development
The Ontario government has announced the sixth round of its Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Stream, investing $260 million in innovative training projects across key sectors such as construction, health care, manufacturing, automotive, and skilled trades. The funding aims to help workers gain in-demand skills and support Ontario’s competitiveness amid global challenges.
Eligible organizations—including employers, training providers, labour unions, hospitals, and Indigenous groups—can apply for project funding through Transfer Payment Ontario until October 1, 2025.
The province also announced over $20 million through the previous SDF round to train nearly 5,000 individuals, including jobseekers, youth, newcomers, and hospitality and health care workers. Since its launch in 2021, the SDF has supported over 1,000 training projects and helped connect more than 700,000 people to better job opportunities.
