PM Justin Trudeau issued statements to mark la Fête nationale du Québec & Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day that celebrated the numerous ways Quebecers have contributed to Canada’s inclusive and diverse nation.
Prime Minister Trudeau also highlighted Francophones across the country in his remarks: “On Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, we celebrate not only Canada’s Francophonie, but also the nearly 8 million Francophones across the country whose language, culture, and traditions are at the heart of Canada’s heritage and identity.”
Prime Minister Trudeau highlighted several Budget 2021 measures designed to make French more accessible to learn as well as initiatives to promote French language and cultural activities.
The remarks also emphasized Quebec’s shared history with Canada: “Together, we share a unique culture, a rich heritage, and the beautiful French language. These are attributes that make us proud”.
