Anyone doing manual Android app testing on real devices?
By: GervaseScott on Oct 09, 2026 06:56 AM EST
Does anyone here do manual Android app testing on real devices regularly? I’m curious because I’ve mostly been using emulators so far, but I keep hearing that actual phones reveal issues that emulators miss. For example, I recently had a problem with an app behaving oddly on my physical phone but never on my Android emulator. How much does real device testing improve the quality of manual testing, especially for apps that rely heavily on sensors or GPS? Balancing a device lab seems time-consuming and expensive, so I’m interested if others manage this remotely. Also, what differences have you noticed in user experience testing between real phones and emulators during manual QA? Any stories or tips from those working with diverse Android devices would be great.
