I passed the Canadian citizenship test on my first attempt with 20/20. What worked best for me was combining the official Discover Canada guide with regular practice tests.
I recommend reading Discover Canada carefully at least twice. During the second reading, make short notes by topic: history, key dates, government, elections, rights and responsibilities, symbols, and regions.
For important dates, create a simple timeline connecting each date to its event and significance. Flashcards can also help with Confederation, wars, historical figures and constitutional milestones.
After studying each section, use practice quizzes to identify what you haven’t retained. I created https://citizenshipcanada.app/ after preparing for my own test. It offers practice questions and full mock tests in both English and French.
Before taking the real test, complete several mock exams under timed conditions. Try to score consistently above 85–90%, then review every incorrect answer directly in Discover Canada.
Practice tools are useful, but they should complement rather than replace the official guide because IRCC states that all test questions are based on Discover Canada. Good luck with your preparation!
