Change in Cicumstance - Permanent Residence

By: mtemsah on Sep 08, 2019 08:16 AM EST
Hello. I've already gone through the permanent residence application and I've been asked to give my passport to a VAS to secure a visa. In the email they ask you to update them on any change in circumstance including a change in health. After doing the IME by 3 months I was diagnosed with cancer and I'm already almost done with treatment. Should I mention it to them?

The short answer is yes, you must. The reason is that health condition is one of the mandatory admissibility factors. Failing to disclose the change in health could result in misrepresentation. You may also refer to IRCC's guidance and see "Change other information": http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=52&top=34
