Coating a garage floor with epoxy resin
By: Clarissa on Mar 26, 2026 05:21 AM EST
I want to coat my garage floor with epoxy resin. It was painted about 20 years ago, and the paint is peeling. I plan to sand the concrete and remove all the paint before applying the epoxy.
Which epoxy resin kit is best for DIY use? I've seen several different brands at major hardware stores. Which one is more durable?

Honestly, the difference between a "regular" DIY kit and a professional coating is quite noticeable—both in thickness and durability. So, if your goal is to do a one-time, long-lasting job, it makes sense to at least watch how the professionals do it.

Don't buy cheap epoxies. They don't last long. It's better to look straight ahead at two-component systems, which provide a thicker, more durable layer that's resistant to stress, oil, and temperature fluctuations. But if you're aiming for the longest possible result, so you don't have to redo it in a couple of years, then consider the professional-grade epoxy garage floor gold coast , which offers a full-fledged multi-layer system and uses durable materials.
