How do I mount SFTP as a network drive?
By: Fadaza on Jan 09, 2026 05:57 AM EST
I’ve been handling a lot of SFTP servers lately, and constantly using a separate SFTP client on Windows is slowing down my workflow. What I really want is to mount an SFTP connection as a regular drive on my PC, so I can manage all remote files directly through File Explorer. It would make things far easier, especially when dealing with large folder structures and frequent updates. Do you know if something like that is actually possible?

Yes, it’s definitely possible, and I actually did it recently when I needed smoother access to a remote development server. I found a really detailed explanation here mount sftp windows which walks you through mounting an SFTP connection as a drive in Windows. Once you set it up, the SFTP server shows up in File Explorer with its own drive letter, and you can open folders, transfer files, and even edit documents just like they were stored locally. It’s surprisingly stable and makes remote file management feel natural.

That sounds exactly like what I need. If I can access my SFTP server directly from File Explorer, it will eliminate so much unnecessary switching between tools. I’m definitely going to follow that guide and set everything up properly.
