How to verify the legitimacy of an EB-3 visa sponsor?
By: Jaden_R on Dec 02, 2025 01:35 PM EST
Hi, I need your help with my EB-3 visa, specifically with sponsors. I recently read a story about a guy who accidentally stumbled upon a scam because his “employer” told him to transfer money for PERM and I-140 petition expenses, which he shouldn’t have. How exactly did you verify the legitimacy of your prospective EB-3 visa sponsor?

Where exactly did you read this story about the guy who accidentally became a victim of fraud? Can you send me a link to this story too? I am also currently in the process of finding an EB-3 visa sponsor and I would not want to be in the same situation as this guy. I already understood how to identify legitimate EB-3 visa sponsors, I read an article about it on the eb3.work website and it was indicated there that you need to check each employer on the state registry of enterprises website. Also, if the employer asks you to send money for expenses related to the EB-3 visa, then this is definitely a scammer and in no case should you follow his instructions.

When I was looking into EB-3 options, the biggest thing was treating it like a real job search, not just an immigration step. Checking the company’s website, LinkedIn presence, and whether they had an actual HR contact helped a lot. A genuine employer never asked me to pay for PERM or I-140 — that was the first red flag everyone warned me about. I also looked through public business registries and even skimmed consumer sites (one search randomly took me to https://vitalchek.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html , which reminded me how useful support pages can be). Legit sponsors are transparent, patient, and never rush you to send money.
