Is fixing a loose port worth it?

The charger only works when the cable is bent upward, and I’m getting tired of balancing the phone on books every night. The battery still lasts fine once it charges. Has anyone had a port checked before buying a new phone?

Balancing the cable on a mug was my stupid routine for about a week, so I get it. The phone itself still worked, which made replacing it feel wasteful. I tested two chargers, a power bank, and the car cable first. Booking a basic phone repair was mainly about getting the port inspected properly. They found the issue quickly and checked that the phone charged normally before I left. It was a small fix, but it saved me from upgrading a handset that was otherwise still perfectly usable.
