Lab Bill Arrived After Payment
By: lleailea on Sep 19, 2026 12:03 PM EST
A Lab Charge statement arrived after I had already paid what I thought was the full amount for the same visit. The new notice is not identical to the earlier one, so I am trying to understand whether it represents a separate service, an adjustment, or a balance posted later. The service date, both statement numbers, and the payment confirmation should make it possible to compare them without assuming I was billed twice. I’d also note whether the provider name matches on both statements and whether the new amount looks like a partial balance or a separate charge.

Billing statements are easier to compare when I line up the service date, statement numbers, payment confirmation, and provider name instead of assuming two notices mean the same charge. I’d first check whether the newer amount looks like a partial balance, adjustment, or separate service. Keeping the earlier paid statement nearby makes the differences easier to see line by line. I also note whether both notices use the same visit date and account identifier. With those pieces ready, I save Lab Charge customer service once I’m ready to ask how the newer statement relates to the payment already recorded.

Statements should definitely be compared line by line before assuming a second notice means a duplicate charge. Service date, provider, payment confirmation, and account identifier are the details that can show whether the newer amount is an adjustment or something separate.
