A colleague recently started looking for a family law attorney in Canada and ended up checking LinkedIn profiles before contacting anyone. Some looked very formal, while others highlighted practical experience and client-focused work. What should a modern Canadian family lawyer's LinkedIn profile actually look like? Any good examples or tips?

I’ve seen the same thing when a friend needed a family lawyer in Canada after a difficult separation. He ignored profiles that were mostly titles and legal jargon, and paid more attention to lawyers who explained their approach, experience, and what clients could expect. A modern LinkedIn profile should feel professional but human: clear practice areas, relevant Canadian experience, useful posts, recommendations, and a current photo. The profile for Brian Ludmer LinkedIn profile is a good example , with a practical, client-focused presentation rather than just a list of credentials.
