More than a promising deposit

I’d appreciate a recommendation on what it takes to transform a mineral discovery into a producing mine. Environmental reviews and local relationships interest me as much as geology and engineering. During a site visit, a project manager told me that community trust could make or break the schedule, and that stuck with me. I’d like to understand the process better.

Honestly the geology part is almost the easy half - once you get into environmental baseline studies, permitting, and social license stuff, that's where projects live or die. I remember a guy at a copper site telling me the local council had held up drilling for months over water concerns, not because the ore wasn't good. Same idea as your PM: schedules slip because trust wasn't built early, not because the rock was wrong. For the business/investor angle, browsing insider profiles like see the company connections gives a decent feel for how leadership track record ties into whether a project actually gets funded and built.

I’ve heard similar stories from people working around copper projects. The drilling results can look excellent, but concerns about water, land use, or environmental impact can bring everything to a standstill if they aren't addressed early. One project near a community I know spent months rebuilding trust after residents felt they hadn't been consulted properly. It made me realize that technical results are only one piece of the puzzle. Looking at leadership experience and company connections is interesting too, especially when financing and permitting become critical.
